About Us

It is our mission at Sunshine Coast Child Play Therapy to create a safe, secure, and nurturing space that empowers children to unleash their unique and full potential. We harness the therapeutic powers of play to facilitate emotional healing and growth in children, whilst also fostering strong connections and providing support for families and carers.

We aim to make growth and healing through play accessible for every child on the Sunshine Coast, and work in spaces that are meaningful and relevant to the child such as their home, school, or early learning service.

Our specialised team of Play Therapists have completed additional clinical training in child’s play development, neuroscience, attachment, and family systems training and are committed to ongoing education, training and supervision in their field of practice.

Meet Katelyn, founder of Sunshine Coast Child Play Therapy and Play Therapist

MChildPThy, Med (EarlyChild), BEdECP

As a Master qualified and registered early childhood and primary teacher, Katelyn has spent over a decade working alongside children and their families within education and care settings. Throughout this time she has witnessed the powerful benefits of play in supporting children’s overall health and wellbeing, and how play can be used as a catalyst for understanding the inner world of the child. This led Katelyn to completing a Master of Child Play Therapy through Deakin University, the most extensive qualification of Play Therapy within Australia.

Katelyn sees each child and family as unique and individual, and is passionate about meeting them where they are with empathy and unconditional positive regard. She has a warm and bubbly personality

and enjoys combining the therapeutic benefits of nature-based play within her sessions.

Katelyn has a special interest in supporting and nurturing the parent-child relationship by drawing upon the inherent power of the parent in their child’s growth and healing. She is also passionate about working alongside teachers and educators and supporting their understanding of therapeutic play principles and practices within schools and early learning centres.
